Twitchers' Diary

The Autumn and Winter have seen a great change at FFF - the trees finally seen to have lost their leaves and the colder weather has killed off the remaining summer flowers.

There have been no rare sightings here though, just the usual pheasants, squirrels, mass of birds, a few partridges now and again, loads of rabbits and hares, and sometimes some foxes.  The slow worms have pretty much disappeared for the time being, as have the lizards and butterflies - although, on the brighter days we have still seen a Peacock or Red Admiral looking a little lost as it flutters on by!

At FFF we also sell Christmas trees, and this is always fun because (apart from the fact it is nearly Christmas and most people are in a good mood!) it also is the perfect excuse to be outside in the fresh air and wander amongst the trees.  Because of the exceptionally warm weather, there is still a lot of fungus about which is for me fascinating (although I confess to not knowing anything at all about it other than some of it tastes lovely when cooked!)

This is rare Night Heron, was seen several times during early April 06 in and around one of the ponds at FFF.

This little fox cub came wandering through the garden at 5pm on 20th July 05 and seemed quite happy to have a nose about before walking off under a tree.

There is so much wildlife here, it is nearly impossible to list it all!  Why not come and see for yourself the diverse range of flora and fauna that also lives at Freshwater Fruit Farm!?
